Seventh Town Historical Society Becomes FamilySearch Affiliate Library

Seventh Town Historical Society, operators of the Marilyn Adams Genealogical Research Centre (7th Town/MAGRC) are pleased to announce that they are now a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, which means it has access to more genealogy resources to help genealogy buffs, researchers and family historians make more family discoveries. FamilySearch is a world leader in family history.

The designation means 7th Town/MAGRC can provide greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch. The popular web service has over 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical genealogical records—and you get the helpful assistance of our volunteers at MAGRC.

FamilySearch adds over 300 million free genealogical records and images online yearly from all over the world and manages the famous Family History Library in Salt Lake City. It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land and court records from more than 130 countries to help you discover and make family connections.

Seventh Town Historical Society was founded 50 years ago to collect and preserve family histories – particularly those who settled in the Quinte/Hastings/Prince Edward County region.  The Marilyn Adams Genealogical Research Centre was established 25 years ago to provide genealogical research resources to the public. In addition to the vast resources now available through FamilySearch, 7th Town/MAGRC hosts several unique collections not available elsewhere that include family genealogies, military history and Hastings County land records. Our website at seventhtownresearch.com also provides an online index of over 1.2 million names.

“We are excited to have Seventh Town Historical Society as our newest FamilySearch Affiliate Library.  It will help FamilySearch expand opportunities for fun, personal discoveries and family connections to the local community,” said Paul Nauta, FamilySearch Public Relations Manager.  Diane Godbout, president of Seventh Town added, “Providing access to family history records has been our mission since our inception and adding the immense capabilities of FamilySearch to augment our own records and local knowledge will further help our visitors discover their roots, whether they are in The County or elsewhere.”
