We’re cautiously reopening starting July 13.

Beginning July 13, we’ll be open to visiting researchers by appointment only. To book a research appointment, contact our Research Desk at research@seventhtownresearch.com. In order to ensure the safety of our volunteers and visitors, please note the following conditions:

  • Please verify with us before your visit that you have not been in contact with anyone who has tested positive (in the past 2 weeks) for COVID-19 and that you are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Bring and be prepared to wear a mask while inside the centre.
  • While we have computers available for your use, we recommend you bring your own device. Access to our wifi network will be provided.
  • Please limit your visit to a few hours.

At our end, we are:

  • Disinfecting all surfaces and high-touch equipment (computer keyboards, etc.) before and after each visit.
  • Providing hand sanitizer
  • Wearing masks ourselves
  • Opening for appointments any day of the week, depending on the availability of volunteers.

We really appreciate your understanding at this time and are looking forward to once again being able to help researchers discover their family history.

And, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer we have many onsite and remote (work from home) opportunities available. Contact us at volunteer@seventhtownresearch.com for more information.

  1. Hello – regarding the source codes – you’ve pretty much figured them out. The catlog titles for ones you hilited are:
LIS BMD-310-02 Reid Family Index L-Z
    DIR-COM-001-3 Hastings County Directory 1879-1880
Dir-Agr-001-15 Hastings County Agricultural Directory 1890

A large quantity of our collection has not been indexed, so there could be material on site relevant to your search. Your note has been passed on to our Research Desk and we’ll respond via email to set up an appointment date/time. Thanks for your note. Please check your spam/junk folder in case our email gets flagged.

  2. I would like a wee bit of assistance with some codes for sources: Can you tell me the nature or type of source that is associated with the following listings.

[I am searching for a connection between the ‘early’ Jacob Storring (1793 – 1861+) and his son Darius Sr (1822 – 1900).
I am not presently interested in Darius Jr (1866 – 1921+) nor the later Jacob Storring (1848 – 1927) ]

Storing, Jacob – LIS-BMD-310-2 – 525 (Obviously a birth, marriage or death record.. what is LIS?
Storings, Darius – DIR-COM-001-3 – (Likely a directory of some type, possibly commercial)
    Storrings, Darius – HIS-HA-122-1 – (A Hastings history document?)
    Storrings, Darius – Dir-Agr-001-15 – 5 (A agricultural Listing in a directory?)

It does not seem too likely that any of these contain a father-son connection that I need. Many Many THanks! And Hi to Julie!

I could set an appointment for this coming week July 21 – 24. I am busy 20th.
