The Names database is an online and searchable resource. There are about three million records in this index from the genealogies, births and death records, marriages, obituaries, pedigree charts and other genealogical records in the library, including the Heal Family research collection.
The Heal Family index was compiled by longtime volunteer Hugh Heal and includes 175,000 names from the Heal Collection at the MAGRC. Over 71,000 of the names actually carry variants of the Heal surname. This extensive index has been included in the Names database.
How to search
Search by name (surname, given name) to view a list of matches. Each match found displays the details of the index record: the name matched, library reference, and the page number where the name appears in the volume.
You may come to the centre in person to view the documents and pages found or use the search tool to send us a list of the documents you’d like to have scanned and sent to you. Note that emailed requests are subject to a $30 research handling fee, plus scans.
